This content is sponsored by BIC®, all opinions are my own.
If you’re not already being kind to yourself with Self Care Sundays, you’re missing out! The good thing is I’ve got your back with self care Sunday ideas that will get you some great quality time to yourself to rejuvenate and gear up for an awesome week to come.
As a mom and wife with a hectic schedule making time for me is a must. I usually lean on Sundays to get “me” time. Sundays are my favorite day of the week to practice my own self care because it’s the best way for me to recharge and get myself amped for the week ahead. I take time to do anything for myself that will make me feel good in my Sunday self care routine.
What is Self Care?
Self-care is exactly how it sounds: merely taking care of yourself. It’s intentionally taking care of yourself so that you can be healthy and accomplish anything you need to for yourself or others. Essentially, self care allows you to get all of your to do items done on a daily basis without sacrificing your own health. If you’re a caregiver to anyone, including children, parents, or a partner, you’ll find yourself with many competing priorities, so you have to put your self care first. You don’t want to experience burn out, and having a self-care Sunday on your calendar is a good way to keep your own rejuvenation a priority.
A few simple types of self care include but are not limited to:
Mental self care is prioritizing your mental health with practices such as meditation, practicing positive morning affirmations, and even having counseling sessions for self discovery.
Physical self care is prioritizing your physical wellness with actions like sleeping well, eating well, and getting physical activity.
Spiritual self care is prioritizing your connection to a higher power with practices such as worshiping in religious services or simply spending time in nature to connect with the universe.
Since self care is really anything you do to take care of your own health and make yourself feel good, it can look different for different people. Whatever you do with intentionality to make yourself feel good is self care!
Why is self care important?
Self care encourages regular check ins with yourself to ensure you’re feeling and doing your best. Before you can do for others or radiate your great feelings and attitude to those around you, you have to do that for yourself. The saying goes, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” and it’s true!
I, myself, have not been so good to others when I haven’t been good to myself first. Snapping. Going off for no reason. Being extremely impatient. All of those things occurred as a result of me not doing things to intentionally focus on my self care with doing things that make me feel good.
How can I create a good self care routine for myself?
Again, self care is intentionally taking care of yourself by doing things that are good for your total health. Those things that make you “feel good” will vary from person to person, but you can rely on the typical categories mentioned above when you want to prioritize your own self care and create a routine.
Think about what makes you feel good and brings you joy and happiness.
If you have a hectic schedule, start by dedicating at least 1 hour each day to doing that one thing that makes you feel good. Commit to yourself by waking up one hour earlier if needed to get your self care time.

How I Use Self Care Sunday to Rejuvenate and Be Kind to Myself?
Self care doesn’t have to be hard, and as a matter of fact it shouldn’t be. Anything from binge watching a show that makes me laugh, ordering my favorite take out meal, or even sleeping in a few hours is how my self care may look.
Self care should should be effortless. That’s why I have a routine down for my own Self Care Sunday that I’d love to share with you! It’s so simple and effortless, yet you will feel refreshed once done.
Take a Self Care Sunday drive and do some light shopping.
Music is my therapy and listening to my music while driving is my own personal concert. I love singing to tunes while taking my drives alone and doing light shopping to get something nice for myself is the icing on the cake. A pair of shoes I’ve been eyeing, a new fragrance for the season, or whatever tickles my fancy. It doesn’t even have to be expensive. It just has to be something FOR ME. Not for the kid. Not for the husband.
